Rocks at Woods Cove

There's a particular kind of chaos at the rock outcroppings in Woods Cove — waves hitting from every direction at once, foam churning white against dark stone, the horizon holding steady while everything below it moves. This piece was painted plein air on location in Laguna Beach, working fast to catch that energy before it shifted.

The palette leans cool — coastal blues and grey-greens — with warm gold light breaking through the water's surface and a soft blush sky above. The rocks anchor the composition with weight and shadow while the surf dissolves into abstraction at the bottom of the frame.
